BHUJBAL SAHEB AND YEOLA PATTERN

The situation at Yeola before Bhujbal's advent in the region in 2004 can be compared to the state of any neglected, socially and economically backward region in the nation.

Yeola was under-developed and lacked basic infrastructure. A town that was always in the news for acute water shortage, Yeola was nothing short of a public embarrassment for any government official. In the wake of zero development, utilities and growth prospects, many local people were forced to migrate to earn a livelihood. The situation was depressing and the locals ached for a change. They were waiting for a messiah
who could bail them out of their sorry state. They found him in Bhujbal, who won the 2004 Vidhan Sabha Elections from Yeola and immediately set out to work. In his characteristic aggressive ways, Bhujbal started attacking the core problems of his constituency –basic public utilities, water supply, healthcare, education and employment.

As part of his missionary zeal, he corrected the water supply system to provide immediate relief to his people, followed by shaping a modern and well-equipped Rural Hospital, Administrative Building facility for housing local government offices, a Sports Complex, ITI college to impart much needed industrial and vocational training to the youth and boost employment prospects within the geographical limits of the region.
With a series of strategic and well-structured developments like these, Bhujbal evolved the much-emulated 'Yeola Pattern' of holistic and well-rounded growth and development in rural areas. Today, as has been rightly conveyed in the words of Shri. Sharad Pawar, "the transformation Yeola has become a 'role model' not only for Maharashtra, but for every Indian State".
